How It Works (Simple Explanation)
When a button is pressed on a DTMF keypad, two tones are generated (one high frequency + one low frequency).
The MT8870 module listens to the audio signal and:
- Detects the two frequencies
- Identifies the exact key
- Outputs a binary code representing that key
Example:
- Pressing 5 ➝ Output 0101
Applications
- Remote control via phone keypad
- Access control projects
- Robotics control (keypad over audio)
- Voice-frequency signaling demonstrations
- Learning digital signal processing (DSP) basics
