Wavelength and Material

The yellow color is produced by a specific band gap energy in the semiconductor material, resulting in a wavelength that the human eye perceives as yellow or amber.

• Wavelength ($\lambda_P$): Typically ranges from 585 nm to 595 nm (nanometers).
• Semiconductor Material: High-brightness yellow LEDs commonly use Aluminum Gallium Indium Phosphide ($\text{AlGaInP}$). Older or standard yellow LEDs may use Gallium Arsenide Phosphide ($\text{GaAsP}$).

Like all standard LEDs, the Yellow LED is a diode and requires a current-limiting resistor for proper operation.

These lights block UV and blue-violet wavelengths, preventing them from damaging photo-sensitive materials used in processes like photolithography and PCB manufacturing.
• Skincare/Light Therapy: Yellow light in the 570–590 nm range is utilized in LED light therapy to reduce redness, calm inflammation, support lymphatic drainage, and enhance wound healing.
